HOAX: Coca-Cola has not advertised jobs in Kenya
The beverage company has distanced itself from the advert on social media.

A Facebook post claiming to advertise jobs at Coca-Cola Kenya is a HOAX.
Published on 19 November 2022, the post claims that the soft drinks manufacturer is hiring for different roles including cashiers, supervisors and storekeepers, loaders and off-loaders, manufacturers, suppliers, and cleaners.
Interested candidates are required to send a message on WhatsApp starting with the word COCA_COLA.
The post is accompanied by a photo of Coca-Cola drinks in what appears to be a processing facility.
But is the job advert authentic? Are the vacancies legitimate?
We checked Coca-Cola’s Facebook page and Twitter account where the company shares its job vacancies, but there was no such advertisement.
We also checked Coca-Cola’s website under the career section and, again, none of the vacancies on the post were listed.
There are 10 vacancies on the website. However, only one “Accounts Payable Assistant” is available in Kenya.
PesaCheck also contacted the company, which dismissed the job advert as fake.
“Only the opportunities advertised on our website are legitimate,” the beverage company told PesaCheck via a direct message on its verified Facebook page.

PesaCheck is East Africa’s first public finance fact-checking initiative. It was co-founded by Catherine Gicheru and Justin Arenstein, and is being incubated by the continent’s largest civic technology and data journalism accelerator: Code for Africa. It seeks to help the public separate fact from fiction in public pronouncements about the numbers that shape our world, with a special emphasis on pronouncements about public finances that shape government’s delivery of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) public services, such as healthcare, rural development and access to water / sanitation. PesaCheck also tests the accuracy of media reportage. To find out more about the project, visit pesacheck.org.
PesaCheck is an initiative of Code for Africa, through its innovateAFRICA fund, with support from Deutsche Welle Akademie, in partnership with a coalition of local African media and other civic watchdog organisations.
